Shady
There is something ‘magical’ about the feeling you get when standing in a woodland setting, the dappled sunlight coming through the canopy, the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves and the birds singing in the trees. Properties in wooded locations present the challenge of finding plant material that will survive and thrive in shady conditions. Paved surfaces have to be carefully chosen too, in order to reduce the risks of algae forming and the paved areas or steps becoming slippery. Woodland areas also offer wonderful unique opportunities from the landscape designer’s viewpoint, in that we can ‘play’ with light versus shade in any given area, setting up a ‘stunning’ visual axis, seating areas and lush gardens.
